In support of a staffing recommendation for the 2021-2022 school year that was approved by the School Board on March 25| 2021| the Administration developed a listing of courses expected to run at each school during that year. That listing was referenced several times during the HR Committee meeting of March 2| 2021 (the records of which have been removed from Boarddocs as of this date)| the Committee of the Whole Meeting on March 17| 2021| and the Regular Action Meeting of March 25| 2021 at which the School Board approved the recommendation of 606.7 FTE employees| at a cost to taxpayers of likely over $50|000|000. Furthermore| various extracts from this listing of these courses were presented for School Board review to inform their thinking in the decision to approve or reject the staffing recommendation| course listings that were discussed at length by the School Board President and other School Board members. This request is to see the full listing of courses developed by the Administration for each school as part of that staffing exercise. Please do not confuse this request with one asking for a listing of courses that WILL run at each school next year. This is a request for the complete listing of courses subsumed in the School Board’s approval of the employment of 606.7 FTE employees for the 2021-22 school year on March 25| 2021| a discrete and completed event.

Response:

Simple Tally Reports for Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South pulled from the District’s Student Information System in February 2021. The Simple Tally Report will vary as student course requests change due to schedule modification requests| or course offerings. These reports reflect course number| description| and total student requests as of the date of the Simple Tally Report. Courses may incorporate more than one course number to reach its total enrollment. For example a stacked course or co-taught course consists of more than one course number.

The response to FOIA request R0000872 also provides information on student course requests as of March 26 2021.

Please note that the HR Committee discussed a preliminary staffing recommendation for the 2021-2022 school year at their meeting March 2| 2021 per agenda item 4.1 Review 2021-2022 Preliminary Staffing Recommendation. As noted in the District’s response to your FOIA request R000870| preliminary| pre-decisional| draft materials were discussed with the HR committee to formulate the District’s 2021-2022 staffing recommendation and were withheld pursuant to FOIA Section 7(1)(f) -preliminary drafts| notes| recommendations| memoranda and other records in which opinions are expressed| or policies or actions are formulated| except that a specific record or relevant portion of a record shall not be exempt when the record is publicly cited and identified by the head of the public body. 5 ILCS 140/7(1)(f). In addition| records relating to collective negotiating matters were withheld pursuant to FOIA Section 7(1)(p). 5 ILCS 140/7(1) (p). Finally| performance evaluations| ratings and groupings were withheld under Article 24A of the School Code| Section 11 of the Personnel Record Review Act and FOIA Sections 7(1)(a) and 7.5(q). 5 ILCS 140/7(1)(a) & 7.5(q).

NO documents presented to the public – or working documents presented to the HR committee – through BoardDocs and discussed at the March 2 meeting have been removed from BoardDocs.
